Hello, I just mixed up my first batch of two part using Randy's recipe and I could not get the Baking soda to completely dissolve. I've got a layer of it on the bottom of the container. Is the water already saturated? Do I need to shake this stuff up every time I dose or should I just dose the clear water?
Thanks for your help,
Mike

Warming it may help.

Did you bake it? Insufficient baking will lead to poor solubility.

A little precipitate eon the bottom, relative to what you added, is not important.

In the winter I had that problem when the water was cold from the basement, I just put the stainless steel mixing bowl on a range burner and turned the heat to warm, dissolved OK after that.

OK, thanks you guys....and thanks again Randy for coming up with this mix! It's about the only cheap thing in this hobby :)

Did you buy the Dowflake locally, or from a supplier of old material? Be warned that Dow changed their process a bit and now there is a more bromide in it that may or may not be a concern.

Despite such concerns, however, lots of folks seem to be using it without apparent knowledge of the bromide issue, or apparent problems from it.

I just had the same problem this morning. So it's ok to heat it up after it's mixed?

Yes, heating the mixed solution, even to boiling, is fine. :)
