I have several small pieces of live rock that seem to have coraline starting to spread. Some of my larger rocks don't have any coraline on them. Is there anyway to help it spread to other rocks or do I just need to be more patient? Also, how long does it normally take to start getting it to grow on the glass...I've heard two months at least.

Just let it grow on its own, it does take quite a bit of time. Just remember that nothing happens fast in a reef tank except death.

patience and optimum calcium levels!

after the tank is fully cycled........coralline will begin to spread all over....including glass. (scrapping it sucks!;) )

what colors are coraline suppose to be,

I see some purple dots in the back of the tank, and also some on the mag-float, but at the same time i also see some green dots next to the purple as well

use your mag float or other glass cleaning utensil to lightly scrape the coralling off, "dust" it off if that makes any sense. I've heard this helps spread it around some, it's what I've always done to any and all coralline on the side panes or viewing panes on my tanks and I don't have any trouble getting it to spread quickly onto other rocks. Can't say for certain weather it's helping but I've never had great growth with sps and lps in my tanks, yet no problem on the coralline. Takes my tank around 2 months to cause any new dry white rock to color up with coralline. Good enough for me :D

Trust me, in time you will be ready to post, "how do i get rid of coralline!" Once it takes off it will spread fast and colonize every possible surface

coralline can be anything from purple to green, occasional red and even blue-ish gray... I currently have it all right now.

You can always scrape some into the water to let it spread around faster, but it will grow pretty well on its own.

Purple-up helps the coralline grow faster (won't help if you don't have any already). If your alk and calcium levels are good it will grow on it's own.
