I am setting up a 75 gallon FOWLR tank and i had a few questions.
I am planning on buying an Euroreef RS135 in sump skimmer, is there anything of this quality that i can get for cheaper? I read that euroreefs are really good, so i picked that brand but i dont want to find out there is something that is just as good but 100 dollars cheaper.
Also i am running a lifereef external overflow cause my tank isnt drilled and it is supposed to run at 600 gph maximum, so i figured i would use a mag drive 5 as the return? is this a good choice?

Depending on how much flow loss you have, you might want to step up to a mag7.

The Euro Reef 135 is a great skimmer. But I would at least get a mag7 for your return, after head pressure you will be under 500 gph.

as for the skimmer other options would be the asm skimmer, msx skimmers, and octopus skimmers aren't bad. i run the nw 150 on my 90 and i would think that it would be just fine on you 75 and it is only about 160 bucks with pump. the msx 160? would be good and it is a little cheaper than the euroreef skimmer. check out the flow loss calculator on reefcentral's home page i would agree the mag 7 would be more appropriate, but look into oceanrunner pumps, they are nicer and more efficient, or ehiem pumps are great for returns.

The msx's, octo's and er rs series are all built in the same plant in china. The msx160 will outdo the er 135. They are relatively the same size the er a bit taller the msx a bit larger diameter wise. The er does 660lph compared to the msx which does 850-950lph. Personally i'd go with the 160 but if your more comfy with the euro either will work well. Even like mentioned above the octo ps150 will work well too as its cheaper than both, only pulls 450lph, but that'll work for the 75g. And like mentioned, the mag7 would be better than the mag 5, but i'd check out the OR pump's as well, they are more efficient.
