Has anyone been able to keep any clams under PC's alone. I have 2 clams. My lighting was a 175W 10K Halide and two 65W PC actinics. But my Halide ballast went bad and I bought 2 more 96W PC 10K whites. The clams seem to be doing fine, but it has only been a few days. There were quite a few things in my aquarium including a couple anemones that seemed to be hiding from the halide and all came back out when I went back to PC's. Clams are about 2 feet from the lights.

So, 2 X 96W PC 10K White and 2 X 65W PC actinics. Will the clams do alright?

What kind of clams? Just 'clams' doesn't help much.

to answer "any clams" Yes I've seen people keeping Derasas under PCs, and even Croceas but place really high and close to the light. I wouldn't risk it but I've seen it done.
For your clams I think they wont do good in the long term being under PCs at 2 feet.

Derasas can be kept under lower light than croceas, but even if you had derasas I would recommend putting them closer to the lights.

I think your clam will be fine. I had my maxima under PC lighting for a year and it doubled in size. I kept it 6 inches from the surface.

I would move the clams real high up. But if they are doing well, leave'm.
