depends on the usage of the probe.
Milwaukees make good probes. if you have a Ca reactor then it may be beneficial to have one.

It is good to have one. It will save you time and you will have no problem to test the water twice a day. I think Hanna is not too bad. I used to use a salifert test kit, its a good one but I did find more comfortable with a pH probe. Its a faster, fun and easy. May guys use this one: http://pet-supplies.drsfostersmith.com/search?p=R&srid=S10%2d3&lbc=drsfostersmith&w=ph&url=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2eDrsFosterSmith%2ecom%2fproduct%2fprod%5fdisplay%2ecfm%3fpcatid%3d4482&rk=3&uid=573303142&sid=14&ts=custom&rsc=dmwmsv4iZmN9IeOs&method=and&af=type%3aproduct&isort=score&view=grid

I use a pinpoint PH monitor here, no problems so long as you calibrate it monthly and replace the probe every 6 months or so.

I never was able to find a PH test kit that gave me reliable easy to read results, a monitor will give you much more accurate readings, and in real time all the time.

kind of expensive. Does ph have to be accurate though? Thats why I was thinking cheaper test kits for Ammonia, Nitrite and PH

Caclium, Alk for Salifert

I have this one. It doesn't seem to be too bad, but I've noticed that it's quite touchy. If it's moved even the slightest little bit it tends goes haywire. All I do to make it get back on track is turn it off then back on.

Anywho, just my .02

I actually run 2 on My tank.I originally had just a pinpoint. Then I picked up a used Neptune AC2.I had to buy a new probe for it and figured I would just use them both to give Me an idea when I need to recalibrate them.If one starts to differ I recalibrate. They seem to stay calibrated longer than i thought.
