skimmer, to hang or not to hang

Is there any real benefit (other than a space saver) to put the skimmer in the sump? I have limited space in my stand but could put the skimmer in the sump if need be. Just want to know if it makes a difference to the skimmer's performance, etc. Tx!

not really just looks better imo when it is in the sump

If it sits in the sumps and leaks....not that big deal. If its hang out of the tank? Gues who will be in the trouble. If you can fit it into the sump I would go for it.

Other than space and aesthetics, it doesn't much any difference.
However, I prefer to keep my skimmer in sump.

not alot of HOB skimmers out there that do a good job either. In sump skimmer IMHO are much better to use. Plus i hate things hanging on my tank lol.

If it fits in the sump do it if not just make sure you seal everything up tight. Mine is on the outside never had a problem.
