i usually take these rocks out of the tank to scrubb them with a tooth brush. this is about a two week growth. i have since added a refudium

Ah the lovely hair algae. I have a pincushion urchin I can send ya! He's banned to the overflow for trying to eat my pulsing xenia. He was 3/4 of the way up the glass and had it in his mouth just chowing down. Probably be cheaper to buy at the LFS, than shipping would be. Really helped thru algae problems. Also a phosban reactor and good flow took care of my algae problems. The chaetomopha in your fuge will help too. It seems that controlling algae is a learning process. Once you learn it's off to bigger and better challenges.

It's not hair algae but rather bryopsis. I would suggest taking it out scrubbing it thoroughly and getting a lot of snails, hermit crabs and algae eating fish to finish it up!

I had a wonderful xenia too but my Mithrax Crab had it for dinner! I went to bed, it was there, woke up, and it was gone! I caught it picking at it for a while and kept chasing it away but it showed me!
I do have a "hair algae" problem which I've posted in a couple of threads but I'm still not having much luck. I have tons of snails, hermits, mithrax crabs, and tangs, etc. but none of them touch the stuff! I've lost about 10 of my hard coral frags so far but I don't know if it's from them being smothered by the hair algae or from me trying to brush off the algae with a toothbrush. I'm sure it's from the latter of the two. Any ideas on how to "safely" remove the algae from the corals?

I second the ID of Bryopsis.

About a 5 on the panic scale. (Not enough to get out of your chair right now, but you want to make plans to deal with it soon).

I had a similarly luxurious hedge growing in one of my tanks. This thread helped me beat it.
