I am planning on adding an acrylic false wall to an ADA glass tank. The false wall would be divided into 3 chambers much like AIO tanks. Would it be possible to glue acrylic to glass, if so what kind of glue should I use.

Also, the tank is a 24" x 12" inch tank. Would be ok to use 1/8" acrylic for the false wall?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Just use standard GE I Silicone for doors and windows. There is a standing argument that the silicone won't stick to the acrylic, but it will do just fine and there really won't be that much pressure against it.

Thanks for the response. Do any of the Weldon glues work for glass, like Weldon #10, #40 or #1001?

No, the weldons won't work. They use a chemical reaction that melts/welds plastic. If you wish to go with a glue instead of a silicone, you would probably do best with epoxy.

Chemicals in silicone either disapate away during the drying process or seal into the silicone. Silicones are often labeled "safe for food contact". I would avoid silicones with mold inhibitors.

If you scuff up the edges of the acrylic, the silicone sticks better.

Thanks for the suggestions. I might try the GE I Silicone, though I have read that it is not a permanent bond.

Anyone hear of the Bostik Titan Bond Plus and where it can be bought? I hear that it is meant to glue acrylic to glass.
Thanks.
