a TDS meter, to check for Total Disolved Solids should be around 3 on RO outlet and 0-1 after the DI.

ebay has dual inline tds meters, about 25 bux. They arent the most accurate but it gives you an idea of where your filters are in age. Also being inline, you are more likely to test it often. A handheld TDS meter takes a little more effort.

Get a good handheld TDS meter. Inlines are used as a rough guide only as they do not have the accuracy needed for RO/DI water. If you water temperature and air temperature vary much at all then it will never be accurate, as much as 2% off for every degree C difference in air and water temps.
