I am working on planning out my new 75gal, and I am wondering about wave makers. All of my tanks now have powerheads in them, and in my new one I would like to do some sort of wave maker, or wave box.

What is a good one that doesn't take up much room in the tank, it very quiet, and moves a crap load of water?

You can get something like a wavemaster to work with your current powerheads. I believe it can handle up to 4 and is fully adjustable. You can also get something like a SCWD. It's a device that you connect to the return from your pump. It doesn't use any power and alternates between to returns but the cycle isn't adjustable. Hope that helps

Kinda, but in the new tank I dont want powerheads in there. It is going to be a "showcase" tank in my living room. Also, the SCWD eats up to much GPH.

I was kind of thinking about something like that, but what is the best way to do an intake to a closed loop without drilling it? Could I just have 2 x 1" pipes with strainers hanging over the back of the tank for the intake?

Yeah you could do that, you just have to make sure that it won't break the siphon in case of a power outage.

You just need to flood the pipe first and over the top will work just fine. Just remember 2 x 1" is not the same as 1 x 2", there is less surface area of the 2x 1"

2 x 1" is the same as 1 x 1.5" right? Also If I run an Ocean Runner 6500 Water Pump - 1700gph, or a Reflo Dart pump will that be to much suction on only 2 intakes? I dont want a fish swimming by getting stuck to the intakes.

I think for the outlets I am going to have 4 of them on a OM 4 way going to wavyseas.

I run 2 x 1.5 to my Dart pump and the suction is very light with the screens on the bulkheads
