Hi, I would like to keep one fish in my currently fish-less SPS-only BB tank. I have a refugium and 45lb of live rock in the display, both fuge and display have a healthy pod population. Tank has been setup since November and corals added in January. Being SPS only and BB, the tank has high flow: 1 modified 6025, 1 stock 6025 and a 6055 on a single controller apart from the stock 450gph return (tank is a standard glass 30g Finnex)

I am leaning towards a solitary wrasse but I am not sure. I would welcome suggestions.

I think a mystery wrasse would be really cool

Just searched around a bit and found several websites saying they need a sand bottom, is this true and general for all mystery wrasse? They do look cool, thanks for the suggestion.

These are just some of my favs that might work: McCosker's wrasse, possum wrasse, royal gramma, blue devil damsel (if it's going to be the only fish), Ocellate damsel (on LA), Helfrichi firefish, fridmani pseudochromis, or possibly a dwarf lion (if you don't have any inverts). Wow I got a little carried away! HTH

Thanks for the replies. I checked LA and they didn't have any Mystery wrasses in stock. Can Fairy/Flasher wrasses also be kept in a similar environment (as described in the first post)? I am leaning towards a solitary six line at the moment.

EDIT: Uhuru, stunning picture!

I'd get the sixline. Just be sure you don't want to add more fish later, that might be a problem.
Here's mine (who's currently confined to my spare tank as he's being a bully)

I like the idea of the single sixline. They really are beautiful fish but aggressive towards other tankmates (which you won't have to worry about :D)

Thanks guys, I went ahead with a single 6-line. He/she will be the only fish in the tank.

Did you buy it yet?I would lean more towards another wrasse, there really are nicer looking choices with the same requirements/cost like a flahers or a yellow coris

yellow coris need sand along with any other halichores species.

h20 freak1: Yes I did go ahead with a 6 line.

I support the devil bamsel or 6 line idea. both are gorgeous fish, and more than pests in communty settings. So, the only way to enjoy such fish is the seldom seen single specimen setup.

About the fish: I think its finding the light too bright, its only lurking around in the shadows but it is very active and moving around.... perhaps just a matter of time before it steps out of the shadows?
