Im going to have an sps dominated tank, and I read that clown gobies can take down branches off acros. Who has one with an sps dominant tank? They are really cool and Im thinking of getting one.
thanks

Well I do'nt have either but what you're thinking about is the nest. Essentially what they do is rip off the polyps and flesh from a small portion of your SPS and lay their eggs there. After that though the coral almost always grows back and the damage is pretty minimal.

I've also heard that them ripping off polyps is actually beneficial

I had one a while back and it did my sps no good at all. I had to remove the goby

they can cause a good bit of damage and even kill sps if they pick a favorite to perch in/munch on.

I have a yellow clown in my reef tank. He has been in for about 1 month and as of today I can say he has not caused any damage to my sps. The polyps dont even retract when he is perched in his favorite spots.......like everything else. You will get 10 different answers on the same question. It just depends on your particular fish.
