What size tank do you have and what other sand crittters do you have? A sand sifter can starve if there is not enough sand for it to get food. Are you trying to stir the sand up to prvent build up? if so i can reccomend Nassarian snails.

yeah, in a nano you dont want to get a sand sifter fish. nassarius snails are good.

Most sand sifting gobies get large 5+ inches.
I have a Banded, or Dragon, sand sifting goby, and he is about 4.5 inches in my 34g RSM

my clowns sift all the sand my tank can handle...

well not so much sift as flip it all over the tank with their crazy mating and "bury the frags to close to my home" dances...

other then that i use nassarius snails...and by far the best sand shifting snail in the world is my strawberry conch..

I have had a Rainford's Goby in my RSM since about 7 months. He (she?) has been the perfect fish since then: Colorful, peaceful and hard at work...

However, since about three weeks, this little guy is showing bad signs of starvation and he is not willing to eat anything I provide, frozen, dried and even live food... :(
