Ok so I've decided I really don't like sand....
It's dirty...
It gets onto my corals....
It shifts into big "Mountains" and leaves bare spots from
the flow.... It's driving me INSANE!
Everyday, I vow, "I'm not gonna stick myhands in the reef..." and everyday I end up d oing it anyway, becaus the sand is killingme...
HELP!

Welcome to the bare bottom club! :)

I enjoy pointing my powerheads to the floor towards the rear and all the detritus collects in the front of my tank and then I can siphon it all out. :D

I hear ya. I started with a DSB. Aced that in the new tank. Started an SSB in that one. Now I have a partial BB and partial SSB. If I have company I spruce up the tank with some fresh aragonite, but sooner or later I siphon it out. I can deal with the look. The inhabitants seem to like the cleaner tank much better.

Yep, right there with you. New tank will be BB and as I siphon the sand out of the current tank, it will convert to mostly BB.

My plan was to add sand eventually. I never did.

That's too bad. A DSB, given a modicum of thought, is the easiest way to reduce nitrates, process detritus, and add bio-diversity to your tank.

agreed- but don't put the DSB in the main display!
