I have a 250 gal acrylic tank that I bought. It is leaking from the seams on both side probably 2-4 inch in length. What is my best bet to do? I have some weld on 3,4 and 16. Do I have a chance on re-gluing it or am I screwed? It was already reinforced on both seams on the inside, so hopefully it has enough strength still.

That sucks somebody already attempted to fix it and failed.

Of course it also sucks that it was leaking in the first place. It would make me question the overall integrity of the tank as if it was built properly it shouldnt have happened

got a pic of the leaks and the attempted repair jobs??

It can be fixed if the cracks are small. You will have to drain the tank to do it the right way.

The gaps are pretty small and the tank is now drained, this was the first time that I filled it. Should of checked it in the beginning before all this work to it. What is my fix? Thought of just using the weld-on 16 that will take up gaps?

acrylic dust and weld on #4

throw a couple of pieces of scrap on your table saw and put a clean bucket underneath to catch it

there are Im sure better ways to make this dust...but thats how i have done it.

I have even scooped it off the floor to patch a sump before

So put the scrap near the gap and fill it with #4? have a good idea but don't think the gap is that big.

You could take a 1/4" square piece that is 2 inches longer than the leak, and weld it on the inside of your tank were the crack/leak is. This will help reinforce it to keep the crack from seperating more.
