the current bulbs will be a year in April so I really need to get my butt in gear and order the new bulbs. I run 2 250w 10k xm's on a PFO electric ballast with 2 96w VHO super actinics.
There is definitely a hint...and it really is only a hint...of yellow with the xm's...so i am thinking of trying a new bulb.
The PPFD of the xm's is 115 on the icecap ballast...so that is the only number I can use to compare as that is what Sanjay uses for his tests.
I am looking at the Geisemann marine...it has a PPFD of 95.7 ( not a huge drop from the 115) so growth will be good....but the color is listed at 9767K (the xm lists at over 11K for a 10K bulb)
and the PFO Krystal Star which lists at 102.7 PPFD...so growth is very good, and color reads at 9051K....
so if you have used either of these bulbs and have pros or cons for them i would love to hear about it...
Ideally I want to have a WHITE bulb....not too blue as I am not a fan of the blue look...to MY eye it makes the colors unauthentic...
