I found Sanjay's review of the Iwasaki 14k bulb, but I can't find it for sale anywhere. Has anyone used this bulb... what did you think?

This is that bulb (http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=15K-175IW&Category_Code=mh-175w) it is sometimes listed as 15K.

I got some DE's last week. They had a 14k Iwasaki label on them (the box) but then another sticker over top of that that said 15k. Whichever they are, I really like them.

I thought that the Iwasaki 15k's are SE?

I thought that the Iwasaki 15k's are SE?

They just came out ( I am pretty sure it is out now ) with a 250 Watt, DE version.

I use the SE versions and they are great bulbs! If they came out in DE 250W that is awesome!

I was waiting for some Ushio 14k's and they ran out of stock so the guy suggested that I upgrade to the just released Iwasaki 15K de. So I guess they just came out.

I have no idea what the PAR is compared to the Ushio 10k's I used to run but they are BRIGHT (I know, describing halides as "bright" is kinda lame right?) and have a great color.

I run two Iwasaki's DE 250W 14Ks and two Geisemann 14.5 Coral DE 250W on my tank. The Iwasaki's are have a little less blue hue but are a very bright crisp white with a hint of blue. No Yellow what-so-ever. As far as growth, they have only been on the tank for a little over two months and nothing has died as of today ;)

So did I understand you correctly that the Giesemann 14.5K's are more blue than the Iwasaki 14K's?

Just ordered a bulb from premium aquatics. Definitely looking forward to trying it out. ;)

Based on the spectrum analysis from Sanjay's site, it looks like this bulb has a lot more white light included than standard 15k bulbs. I don't doubt you need additional actinic supplementation to offset all the white.
