Please show me your tanks with multiple or one rare fish. Ideally I want to see a few rarities in one tank. I certainly don't mean the most expensive, though rarities generally are. So lets see them. Thanks, Tim

Think they are fairly rare as I've only seen a couple others in tanks on the 'net.
And being gobies they didn't cost very much either ;)

Damn Gasman! Nice fish.
I am on my second CandyCane Hogfish and both of them have had all their red turn to black.
Does anyone have any idea why this happens to CandyCane Hogs? I feed min mostly Mysis and Cylopeze with some Fauna Marin foods.

That's a healthy great looking ribbon eel. It's amazing what a non-emaciated ribbon eel looks like. Quite the difference from the ribbons you generally see at LFS. I know they can be difficult, what was your key to success? What do you feed the ribbon? How long have you had it? I've always wanted to get one but was put back by the poor survival rate of this eel. Wonder if anyone has pictures of a female turning into a male in captivity. Congrats on a great eel. Regards, Tim

I have had him/her for over 2 years. When I got him he was fully black and in the past 4 months he has been changing to a she. She is hand fed with fresh shrimp every 3-4 days and has also ate several tank inhabitants. (ugh) She lives in an empty conch shell in my large reef tank now and stays in that area unless she is hunting, which keys me into knowing it's time for feeding. Other than that I really haven't had much difficulty with her at all. Here is a video from a couple months ago of her when I was re-laying the big tank and had her in a smaller one until I was done. You can see how long she is in it. http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r224/yunachin/th_100.jpg (http://s145.photobucket.com/albums/r224/yunachin/?action=view¤t=100.flv)

Those Dragon Sea Moths are cute but my angels graze the rocks for pods and wouldn't have enough left for the dragons.
Dante_JoseCuerv
03/14/2008, 01:17 PM
If you lived near me I'd give you my pods. I've got at least 5 or 6 fish constantly picking on them including 4 dragonets, 2 baby angels and a couple gobies and I'm being overrun by these guys. I have a little 15 gallon with maybe 10lbs of LR and some live substrate... and these guys are crawling on the glass and swimming through the water. This was my cultivation tank before I realized that there were too many even for my 90 gallon X_X.

I envy you wish I could have your problem and I would have many other fish choices. I used to have large pods over the glass till recently with all my angels out hunting and only tiny ones there now and all the big ones are under the rocks as I can see them from under the tank. Please post some pictures after you get the pair of eurypegasus draconis.

Yeah... in a way it's kinda good to have my problem, but at the same time it blocks the view of my fish at times... my two baby lamarck's love them though. They're always munching around and being happy. I guess I don't mind but I've given at least 50k away just to alleviate the population. They're never out during the day though... so it's hard to tell I have the problem. My mandarin loves them too.. it's getting really fat.
Sure thing, when I get them in I'll have pics up, they should be between 2 and 3 inches long each.

is the only other Priolepis ascensionis (Ascension Goby) I have ever seen, besides mine "Dizzy" who is pictured here:

Please note his inverted orientation. That is the "normal" behavior of these guys.
VERY rare fish indeed. I have searched everywhere for others with these guys, and even Bob Fenner is interested in staying in touch with me to learn more about this fish.

I just got it on thursday. It is a dwarf cuttlefish (sepia bandensis) and it is now 3 months old. I have it in a 30 gallon finnex cube. It is eating frozen mysis, and large amphipods that i pull out of the refugium from my 90 gallon reef. It is a very cool little animal! Glad to see that it is really begining to warm up to the tank :)

[B]Great fish all!!! Flame angel where did you get your Bandit from? I was going to get one but I got a black tang instead. I also have a Conspiculatus thats being quarantined and should be in the display in a month or two. That is going to be my ultimate.
I got the bandit from NYAquatic.com and you can see the info I posted in the vendor experience forum here:

This thread is almost a decade old.
Oldie but goodie. Things have fallen so low.
Thanks for finding this.

Funny that many of the fish deemed to be rare (in the hobby, though not necessarily in the ocean) 10 years ago really aren't today. Even hybrid dwarf angels now seem to appear with regularity (seen at least 4 tigerpyge on DD since the Fall). I suppose my only claims to 'rare' fish would be my two Mauritius entries - a lapillus leopard wrasse and a polyzona tang.

Yeah, and the cycle will continue to to that way. Many of the fish that we call rare these days will be regularities in the future.
Imagine Zebrasoma gemmatum being on the same level as a purple tang.

My g. Personatus
Joculator
Gem tang
Black tang
Nahacky wrasse
Vanuatu hooded wrasse
Are probably my rarities.
Having 7 tangs (4 zebrasomas and 3 acanthurus (well a Naso)) coexist without squabble
And 20 or so wrasses
And 6 gobies all coexist is my rarity

My list:
Hawaii yellow anthias
Australian 5 striped hogfish (Bodianus paraleucosticticus)
Tigerpyge dwarf angel
Pink patch firefish (this one (https://************.com/2016/12/22/pink-spot-firefish/))
Ghost Naso Tang (this one (https://************.com/2017/02/14/aberrant-naso-tang/))
Black Tang
Black x Scopas hybrid Tang
Earmuff wrasse pair
Used to have a trio of polyzona tangs too, but lost 2 to fighting and the last one ate dinos and died. Also lost a Bella goby to jumping.

Guess they won't let me link to my fish =\ Do a search on google with the names I used for the 2 unique fish and they'll come up
