It's about the size of a quarter, green bubbly tentacles and pinkish color at the root of the tentacles.

Wondering what it is and is it good or bad?

Thanks.

Thanks, tkeracer619.

Does anybody know if flickr photos can be tagged here and how if yes?

you gotta put a "" before the link and a "" after the link.. w/o the quotes around it though.

That's what I did, but didn't work. I think the flickr website might not allow this action.

looks like a bubbletip to me. I could be wrong though.

Looks to me like a Majano Anemone.

These pretty little anemones come with a bad attitude. They can quickly reproduce and will sting anything they come into contact with. Therefore, most reefers choose to eradicate them. Too bad... they really are pretty.

Got the info above from here. (http://www.xtalworld.com/Aquarium/hitchfaq.htm)

They are basically, as bad if not worse than apastia (sp?)...I do not know of anything that will kill them, so that is a question for another thread, that I would make in the clownfish and anemone forum.

I vote that it's a BTA. You might give it a little time before you go after it. Is the rock new and does the hole go all the way through to the other side? If it is a BTA, you may be able to tell by looking at the other side of the rock.

I got the rock from someone's tank being brought down, so it's not a new rock. The hole doesn't go all the way through, and the anemone is pretty small.

It does look pretty similar to a few Majano Anemone pictures which I found online. What's the difference between a BTA and a Majano? Size? Color?

i say BTA. kinda hard with it all tucked in but i say the tubes look alot more like a BTA with bubbles at the tip instead of the clean tube look of a mojano

Thanks for all the replies. I guess I'll watch it for a while, and if it splits and spreads, then it must be a majano, right?

no BTA's also split. that just means they are stressed. im not positive on the behavior of mojano's so i can't tell you what they are going to do. but a BTA will split. hopefully it comes out of that rock a little bit so you can get a better ID on it. definitely watch it.

Hmm this is just not true. Majanos can display bubble tips (pictures above). And not all BTA display bubbe tips.

Regardless, I am fairly certain that is a majano.

BTA just look different IMO.

Thanks for the pics for comparison, I'm convinced it's a majano and getting rid of it.

FWIW.....I agree that it's a majano and you should attempt to rid your tank of it ASAP!!!!!
