My Fish Stock List is two percula clowns, 1 sixline wrasse, and I have a royal gramma in the QT right now. I want to add a flame angel in the future. Im debating on adding a small tang (blue or sailfin) or longnose/copperband butterfly to my list. I'm aware that copperbands are difficult to get to eat, but I've read that once eating they seem to be hardy fish. My concern with the tangs is the reputation they have for contracting ICH and the amount of swimming space they need. Does anyone have any suggestions for me or other things to consider?

I guess my question is "is a long nose or copperband butterfly an appropiate fish for my 65g with the above mentioned stock list?" I've been flirting with the idea of getting a small blue or sailfin tang for the tank, But I know they will outgrow my tank in time. I also am leery of their reputations to be ich magnets. Is one of these butterflies a better choice for my tank? Once feeding do they seem to be hardy fish? I've been told conflicting info as to their hardiness and want some opinions. My feeling is that the butterflyfish is a more appropiate long term addition for my tank, but the LFS is telling me otherwise. The LFS owner says he will gladly acquire a butterflyfish for me, but recommends against it due to his personal experiences.

If I were you skip the tangs and the copperband, the tangs will definitly outgrow your tank, and copperbands are hit/miss so not worth the money. If you want some colour try an Auriga Butterflyfish(threadfin butterfly). Very beautiful and active and hardy.

I have a hippo tang in my 65 and its very happy but I also don't have a whole bunch of fish, 2 square anthias, a rabbit fish, a bi-color blenny,a watchman goby, and a tomato clown and I am in the process of up grading to a 180 just b/c its starting to get a little cramped for the tang.

that aquarium will hold 12ins of tropical marin fish, but if you calculate the size of fish that is about one fish per 10 gallons SUN
