I pull out tons of this stuff every week. What can i do to get rid of it completely (it's been in there since about the beginning, almost a year old)? Should i pull the rocks out one by one and get every little piece? Use a toothbrush to scrape the roots? My fingers can't usually pull it off alone. How long can the rock be out of the water? I think i have bristleworms hiding in the rocks so i should probably watch out for those buggers.

Nice grapes. Does your flame angel pick on anything?

He leaves the mushrooms alone but i think he is resposible for just about destroying a candycane coral. Also likes to destroy zooanthid polyps so i don't keep those.

Try turning the lights off. How many corals do you have? 3-5 days should take care of it. Looks like a pain. Thats why I stay away from most macro algae...

Get something to eat it. Algae grazing fish or inverts.

Tang maybe. But last resort definitely.

Turn out the lights for 4 days, put a towel over the tank....if that doesn't work try a tang

If there was some way to feed the other fish seperately, cut back on food to the angel and he might get hungary enough to eat the stuff. Also check on the macroalgae forum and see what eats it.

i would never put a tang in a tank that small....
i had the same problem with G.C. in my old nano. i re-cured all the rock and started all over again.
we tried turning the light off for a few days, it just came back.
tangs, and rabbit fish wont cure your problem, just put a band aid over it for a while.

Your coraline algae is so intense wow. It looks like it's growing over the macro in the back??? Or is that just me eyes playing tricks?

I have the same problem in my tank and the problem is once the root structure takes hold you have to get get in there and pull it off. I actually take rocks out and pull it off with tweezers. I am not sure of any inverts that eat that stuff but if there is please let me know.

Thanks for the input everybody. It looks like i will just have to pull it off one by one slowly... tweezers is a good idea. My fingers cant pull the root off the rock. I think it will always be a problem unless i nuked the rocks which i can't do. I think when there is only a little bit in the tank after pulling out a ton of it it kind of looks cool but when it goes crazy it's just out of control. :p
