saltwater testing kits

can i use my freshwater test kits to test for ammonia ph nitrate and nitrite? What other parameters should i be testing for a FOWLR Tank that i will be adding some softies too after i upgrade my lighting?

From what I have been told. There is a diff in kits. API makes a freshwater kit, a saltwater kit, & even a Reef kit.

You need to get salt water tests for ammonia and nitrate
But if you are going have corals then you need to test for alkalinity, calcium and magnesium also
I prefer the salifert tests--i find them a little more accurate then counting drops til there is a colour change
