Just bought me a leather coral today. had to ruuber band it to a rock as it came attached to a tonga rock. Ive got a spot id like to place it. Is there anyway to remove the coral from the rock, or does it let go when it wants to let go?

It would have to let go I think. You have to be careful messing with their "foot" area. They can get infected and die...I know first hand :(

I would leave the coral alone, if you have to try and break up the rock it is on to make it smaller to place it where you want.

Be careful doing this though...This is what I did and ended up breaking all the LR off from under the coral. It ended up melting from the bottom where it used to be attached.

I'd leave it be. The stress of being shipped and acclimated several times (wholesaler, LFS, hobbyist's tank) in a short period of time is very stressful. To remove the leather from its rock is just going to stress it further.

You can (carefully) chisel the rock, but leave 1" or so underneath the coral. Honestly though, unless the rock it's on is absolutely hideous or plastered with Aiptasia, I see no reason to bother -- just consider it additional filtration for your tank! :)
