If there is any question in reference to these bulbs....You have to try them. Just installed them last night and....It's a whole new world......:eek1:

I traded my gman coral 250watters for the pheonix and it is so much more blue, really makes the corals pop, just wish they were brighter. I am considering get the PFO HQI ballest to get alittle more output.

I have t5's with my Phoenix 14K. It really brightens the tank as well plus you get more par. I'm running a blue+ and an aquablue.

I tried 150W and I am not seeing as blue output as others have reported. I am seeing more white with some blue tint. In the 150W and others, I am sure, ballast type makes a big difference.

Just wondering did the bulbs get bluer during burn in or whiter?

I agree with rtgordon - I am running phoenix 14k at 250w. I have them in an Outer Orbit fixture. Crisp white with a slight tinge of blue. I do like them, but they are not quite as described in the previous posts above.

besl,

I have the same fixture (Current USA Outer Orbit) and the pheonix 14k's looks like 20K bulbs to me. I do have (2) Auqablue and (2) Pure Actinic's T5's. I did get mine used by a fellow reefer so that my be why.

I would love to know if they get bluer as they get burned in. It is pulling 263 watts from the external current ballest.

Anyone elese out there that can tell us if the pheonix bulb gets bluer as it ages? My Gman's 250wat Coral (14.4K) started to loose the slight blue hue when it got to be about 7 months old.

I run them ( 150w versions) they are white with a blue hue, Sunpod Fixture. I like the color, since I have no supplemental actinics, never did see a need for them. Just an excuse to spend more money on energy and bulb replacement. Next stop will be the Radium 20k. More PAR and less of a spike in the 420-440 nm range. A true 150w HQI lamp, unlike the Radium 400w versions that seem to shift spectrum after 6months, so I hear and read.

I'm running the 250 Watt 14K DE Phoenix in my Aquamedic pendants and was recently thinking about switching to Reeflux 12K, but PAR is higher in the Phoenix bulbs.

I just ordered 3 more from hellolights to replace mine which are over two years old

I use no actinic supplementation at all.

I'm running (4) 250w 14k Phoenix in PFO HQI pendants with Icecap ballasts. I just switched from (2) 14k Ushio and (2) 14k Hamiltons to the 14k Phoenix and I really like the Phoenix bulbs better. The Ushio were white with a little yellow tint and the Hamiltons were white with a tiny blue tint.

The Phoenix make the tank and the corals look alot nicer. It's been about 2 weeks and I have seen an improvement in the corals color.
