i should know the answer to this and feel embarassed by even asking but would it be alright to add a 5lb bag of caribsea ocean direct livesand to my existing 14g biocube? and if so, should i add the bacteria tablet as well?

also i have a piece of base rock that has nothing on it to die or leach off of it to speak of, it has been in water for about a month and i was wondering if it was safe to put in the tank as well

That's probably fine, although burying live rock might cause a lot of anaerobic decay. I might lift the live rock out of the sand after adding it.

Pouring the sand into a tube onto the bottom of the tank is said to help reduce water clouding.

Also, use a long piece of large PVC tubing to add sand without disturbing your tank & preventing cloudiness. Simply use a plastic cup to pour the sand down through the tube.
