I have been battling some diatoms and rusty colored sand for some time now, so I decided to get a 3" dragon goby. In 48 hours, he pretty much sifted and cleaned all my sand to a nice shade of off-white. :D However, my tank has been extremely cloudy, and he has been agitating the substrate so much my rocks look like a nuclear winter has hit them - they are covered with debris and dust.
Is this temporary because he's new or will the goby continuously agitate the sand so much that my tank will always look like crap? It's only a 40 gallon, so it doesn't take him long to get around. I finally got to the point where I could just run the skimmer and two powerheads with the live rock, and the water was crystal clear. Do I need to break out the power filter for a little while and run the foam to trap the debris?
