Should I be target feeding my max clams? I haven't since I had them (7 months) and they are looking great and growing.

They don’t need to be spot fed unless they are really small. They get most of what they need from the light.

This is a topic that always elicits strong opinions, but the most up-to-date research indicates that clams do not need supplemental feeding if they are in strong light in a healthy tank with pooping fishes.

If you want to learn more about this topic, get the "Giant Clams in the Sea and the Aquarium" book by James Featheree. It covers it in detail.

Never feed mine. It does just fine. I've heard that when they are younger they sould be fed. As adults they can survive with less direct feedings.

ive kept a few maximma clams alive in a 40gl under a 250 mh in the past and rarely fed them directly. it was a well fed tank with a more than sufficient supply of natural live food from the rock/sand/fuge/blah blah. if it aint broke dont fix it.
