people will advise against the hermits since they will kill snails and take their shells, I've had 3 do it, and one take a shell of snail that had already died.
I think 400 turbos in a 220 would be way too many.

If you have a 220 that's producing enough algae to keep 400 turbos alive, you've got serious nutrient problems!

Get about 50 ceriths and 50 turbos. I think this will be good. Dont get the hermits because they have killed a lot of my snails in my old tank was not very happy about that one.

I've heard that if you have some of the larger turbos that 1 or 2 for every 10 lbs of rock is a good ratio, some of the larger snails ( I have five jumbos) will really mow down some algae in even one day, and they need to eat. So I would think even 100 might be too many. Just my opinion.
I would love to have a 220g barebottom........... soon enough my friends

does the blue hermits eat the detritus better than snails?

Hermits are opportunist eaters aka reef goats. Some people have no issues w/ them but a gen rule of thumb is no crabs or shrimp in tanks besides FO.
They just can't be trusted!

Try Brown Algae Hermits, Nassarius snails, Limpets and serpent stars. This is a ka** combo for clean up.
