Could be several reasons:

Your bulb might be bad, THere might not be enough nutrient. Mine did the same thing, and it was almost al dead, and then it came back. you might just want to wait for a week or so to see if this problem goes away.

You need to add a powerhead to the compartment where the cheato is. I had the same problem and once I added a means to cause the cheato to roll, it recovered and is green as can be. This was the only change that I did.

That is what happened, I used to have the Mj900 with the fuge, then took it off. After a few weeks I see algea bloom due to lack of flow. Reconnected the Mj900, and it starts to break . I had stucked the chaeto to the rock, seem to help. Should I move chaeto out the rock?

I have my chaeto in a bag used for holding carbon in a canister filter in the main system. I just recently ordered an in-tank refugium with a powerhead to keep fresh flow throughout the fuge, and give more room for the chaeto to grow. Hoepfully this will help out...
