Correct wire for 4" bow fan instal

I want to put a couple of the 4" box fans in my lighting hood for cooling. I have some 16/2 low voltage lighting wire. Will this wire work for this purpose or should I buy something different. Don't want to unknowingly create any fire hazard.

Are they 12v DC or 120v AC? I would probably use better wire for AC.

light wire for dc is fine use heavyer for ac 110

the wire needs to have an insulation rated for the voltage applied to it, otherwise you could have a fire.

its safer to use DC fans.
