Can it be done? Also what is the best and safest way to get them off a rock?

Very carefully, you can use your finger nail to just get under there foot, and then gently move your finger back and forth under them and they will release. Otherwise if not done right or it is in a difficult spot, you can damage it.

They can. If you stop feeding it, it might split on its own. Mine has. Stress can induce splitting, although some systems likely have enough fish food and other solid meals to keep an anemone going.

Don't think that it is as easy and as successful as some of the mushrooms!

hhhhmmm.... bertoni.........My BTA is getting way to big in my BioCube.......I had a post here about 4 weeks ago. Everyone told me to keep him fed well & he will split. You are saying to starve it???

I have to do something.......... today he asked to have his own bedroom & then wanted the car keys....LOL

Anemones will spawn if they're doing well. Splitting indicates something's a bit off. That's my understanding. I kept mine well-fed for years, and it grew to 14-15" across, but didn't split once. I stopped feeding it, and now I have four.

Stress is one reason anemones will split, but it doesn't seem to be the only one. It's a pretty reliable way to induce a split though.

Yes, they can be cut manually, but I don't recommend it. BTAs from some parts of the world don't naturally reproduce by splitting, so they may not all be equally suited to being cut.
