Nitrogen Cycle / Shrimp

My tank has been up and running for just under a week. I added two cocktail shrimp to get the cycle started, my ammonia is at .50 no 'trates or 'trites yet. How long do I leave the shrimp in the tank, until it fully decays or what.

Next, when do I know it's time for the first water change?

On another topic, Has anyone ever used Fritz Zyme Turbo Start? I've used the Freshwater version with much success.

you can remove him now. Ammonia (NH3/NH4) @ 1.0 do the WC.
if you have sand and LR it will continue to cycle as the bacteria breeds.

no, i have no exp. with Zyme. IME, it doesnt help the cycle speed.
