for the past few months ive had brown algea pretty bad on my sand and it has started to get on the rocks too :eek2: my phosphates are now at zero since i added a phos reacor with rowaphos about a month ago but the diatoms are still there! ive had a hard time getting my nitrates below 10ppm despite the 30g water changes ive been doing weekly for the past month or so...... any help or suggestions to get this algae under control would be appreciated

maybe lower your light cycle?

how long has the tank been runnin with those lights?

oh yea i forgot to mention i cut my lighting cycle down to 7hrs and cut way back on feeding.... ive had the mh's for about 6 months and added the t5's back in dec.

that's weird that it would just start up like that. have you siphoned through the top layer if sand? I might do half the tank one water change, then the other half the next.
I'm still pretty much a rookie tho
