I know all about keeping SPS etc. But im a bit stuck on what lighting to get for my new tank. I currently have 1 40g reef and 1 55g fowlr i am turning the fowlr into a reef. It is 33x17x23 and i have found a 4x39w light unit so would this be ok?

Not sure what you are asking from the thread. If, by a reef you are talking about sps then, no, that light will not do you any favours. You will need something with a higher PAR rating such as MH or T5
But...because you know about keeping sps then I would assume that your reef will be a softies/lps. In that case the light will be sufficient for most of those corals

The light unit is 4x39w T5HO

That will be ok. IMO MH looks better due to the rippling effect.

Ok Thanks alot. I would go with MH but the electricity bill goes sky high. I do prefer the MH but i prefer t5 for the coverage aswell.

MH doesn't cost any more per watt than T5 and with that size of tank coverage will be of no consequence.
But...many people prefer the coloring options with T5
