I have an aquamaxx RODI unit and the manual says that when changing carbon filters, or the membrane or DI resin, that you are supposed to rub some vasoline on the rubber seals.

This sounded a bit weird to me so I thought maybe I should check with you guys.

You would be MUCH better off using food safe silicone grease.(plumbing section of your favorite hardware store)

The lubricant keeps the seal from deforming as you thread the pieces together and also helps to create a better seal.

No problem :)

Vasaline would likely be fine, but when in doubt (it attacks some meterials) use the food safe silicone.

Go lightly with either one! I use the silicone grease (keg lube) I get from my local Homebrewing shop.
