Hello,

I would like to introduce you all my brand new, fresh set up. Of course because it has been filled in the begining of february.

So the tank is 80x65X45 cm (sorry but I could'nt make the conversion into inches), which means approximatively 230 liters.

The aquascaping was realised with more or less 30 kg of live rock directly coming from Kenya.

Two nanostream 6045 are in charge of the water motion. I also have an Eheim 1262 pump wich assure a turn over of more or less 2.500 l/hr. Water motion, is indeed quite important.

At present I use a Tunze Master DOC skimmer 9015, bat as far as I don't enjoy it at all, I 've ordered a BBK mini 160. Which shall give me some awesome results I guess.

The sump contains aproximatively 50 liters. I also have a refigium of 60 liters fed with a maxijet HP 750. It is led 24 hrs a day with a power compact of 55 watt, in 10.000 K color (Interpet). I put 7cm of suger sand and arag-alive sand, with +/- 8 kg live rocks inside. Refugium is full of sponges, worms and others critters... I feed it every night with Ocean Nutrition pellets. I'm looking for Chaetomorpha but I could'nt find any up to now.

I've not set up any RAC or RAH for the moment. Water changes (15% / week) are sufficient to allow keeping good (excellent ?)parameters.

The main tank is light with an Aqua Medic Oceanlight 250 W + 2 x 24 W T5 in blue.

I've have to install a cooling system on the tank because temperature is already quite high. Probably fans...

The cleaning crew is composed of 15 hermit crabs, 8 snails, 2 linckia and 2 ophiolepis superba. I also introduces 1 Stenopus hispidus.

The fishes are :
1 Acanthurus Japonicus
1 Ctenochaetus strigosus juv 'arrived yellow and caught is adult colors within three days when I introduced the Japo
1 couple of Centropyge acanthops
1 couple of Cirrhilabrus lubbocki
5 Pseudanthias evansi.

Corals :
Seriatopora hystrix pink
Acropora Staghorn limegreen
Acropora blue metallic undetermined
Acropora staghorn Pink and purple undetermined
Superman Montipora
Montipora australiensis
Montipora digitata purple
Acropora green-brown with pale blue tip
Acropora humilis flash green
Acropora tenuis yellow-blue tip
Pavona cactus
Acropora undertemined orange with white coralite
Favia speciosa Red-Green

Looks very nice !

Don't you think you're moving kind of fast ??? That's a heck of a load on a 7 week old system ???

Hye,

For many people, I'm going much too fast indeed. Baut I've always set up my tanks that fast , and never had problems to manage them.

In this tank, NO² have dissapeared within 10 days, I can't lesure neither NO³ nor PO4.

Filamentous algae had been eradicated through a Dolabella, my critters army and a non negligeable algae grazer : the couple of Centropyge...

I have no derbesia, no Bryopsis... I used to have a few Valonia, but they also dissapeared when I introduced a Mythrax.

As a matter of fact, sorry but I forgot to pseak about the Dolabella and the Mythrax in the description of the tank.

I had during a few days ( during the peak of NO²) a problem with green water. Which I had never had before... I couldn't solve this problem. I introduced a Haliclona purple and the phytoplancton disapeared within 2 days. I have no idea if the disapearence of the green water problem and the introduction of the sponge are linked, but it is quite strange, isn't it?

I also have to admit that I'm doing quite a lot of water changes. It may certainly help the tank to work well with that load...

I'll make some more pictures and will post them later...

What is it you don't like about the Tunze skimmer?

I've ordered Chaetomorpha from these guys

Maybe I'm a little bit too exigeant with my protein skimmer. Because even if the Tunze is quite economic (not so expansive - do not consume lots of electricity), is also quite un-noisy, I think it's not very constant in its work. Sometimes it work really good, sometimes it doesn't make any skim for a few days... Moreover, my tank is quite crowded with fishes and corals... :bum:

I've heard so much positive comment about the Buble king, than I've decided to buy one.

Normally, I should received it within 2 weeks.

I sure will let you know about the evolutions.
