put primer on both ends, wait a min. to dry.
put glue on both ends and push both pieces together and give it a 1/2" twist.
wait 24 hours to fully cure.

I dont think you want the primer to dry,the purpose of the primer is to soften the PVC so that the glued joints bind better.Primer both male,& female ends.
Becides that i agree on the 1/2 twist,& the 24hr dry time.

Will the chems in regular pvc glue get into the water???
someone had a post here about a month ago about this. They said that there is a special pvc glue that is made for saltwater & the primer was also clear so it looks alot nicer. Insted of that purple color

after the primer and glue is cured it is harmless and will not leach into the water.
the clear primer is also nice, that purple stuff is a pain to work with to make it look nice.
and you may be right about the primer not wanting to dry been a while sence i did any plumbing lol

I was just talking to a friend who is a plumber. He said that ya...after the glue dries it will be fine...He did a LOL & said....we drink the water from it dont we.
But he also said that the primer does kinda get the PVC soft, but the main reason for it is just to clean the PVC... To make sure that the PVC doesn't have any dirt or oils on it, or the glue wont seal. The purple color is just so you can see that you cleaned the area that you need. He said that on some jobs where the PVC will be out in the open, the customer dont want to see the purple color, so they just sand the PVC joints with sandpaper & that works also

I use Christy's Red Hot (I think that's how you spell it), so you don't need a primer.

So if I can resume:
1) Put PVC Primer on both male and female parts
2) Put PVC Glue on both male and female parts without waiting for primer to dry
3) Stick each part in together and rotate 1/2
4) Wait a day or two to bond

3.5) Hold together firmly for 30 seconds. The pipe can push itself out.
