Hi,
Over my tank I have 2 X 175W with 2 X 10,000K german bulb from Hamilton plus 2 X 110 VHO. In the near future, I would like to replace it with 2 X 250 watts IceCap ballast with 2 X 12,000K bulb minus the VHO's or keep it?. I try not put too much lights/bulbs because of heat and power bills.
My tank is 24 inches deep and 48 inches long.
I've heard that these ballast are cooler to run and more efficient compared to Tar Ballast.
We get power outages here in Guam very often, would this affect the life span of the ballast and bulb?.

TIA~Christian

From IceCap:
Our MH ballasts do run cooler and more efficient compared to other ballast. The ballasts are 98% efficient. The lamps are still going to be extremely hot because that is what MH thrives on.

With frequent power outages I would ask for a ballast made with auto re-start added to deal with this issue. At most it's a 10-15US$ upgrade. It will somewhat effect the bulb's life but not the ballast. We believe our high frequency running and lower voltage method of starting the bulbs will give you a much longer lamp life in any event.
