Well I am well on my way to a 18gal with a plenum. This will be my first plenum, and also smallest tank, ever. In my research, I have not found a reason why a plenum would be more difficult on a small tank, and being comfortable with most problems associated with plenums; just wanted to check with the good people at RC to see if a plenum will an undesirous effect in an 18..

I have never used a plenum but have had a DSB in a tank without a plenum. I'm not sure why you would need a plenum in a nano or a DSB for that matter. I removed the DSB after 5 years and it was pretty gross (scientific term);) and stinky.

Regular water changes remove pollutants, sandbeds imo only sequester those pollutants.

I have read that plenums need a certain amount of sand exposure to be effective..with an 18 tall and LR, will I have enough open space?
