Is it possible to get monti eating nudi's when you haven't added anything to a tank in 6-8 months...?? I haven't added a coral to my tank in a long time and I recently started seeing white edges (where it attaches to the rock) on one of my Monti caps thats been in my tank for close to 2 years... its always been my "soldier" coral that has survived everything... my tank parameters seem to be great, too...

ph-8.2
calc-380
alk-9.6
ammonia-0
nitrate-0
nitrite-0
mag-1250
temp is always 79-80.5 degrees

I have been really focussing on my tank for the past 6-8 months making sure my water parameters are perfect and I have noticed a lot of sudden new growth on my corals lately, so it has crossed my mind that it could possible just be new growth, but I'm always paranoid... Thanks again for everyones help...

If you have them your best bet is to look at night or pull the monti out and look underneath or on the edges for eggs.Mine where well hidden during the day.

6-8 mos? Not possible IME. The white part is either new growth (as mentioned above) or simply bleached. If you have the Nudis you will see them all over the piece. My experience is that the incubation period is roughly 1-2 weeks and they are obligate parasites.
