Hello: I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this question, but here goes.....What is the consensus on having magnets in a reef tank for extended periods? I'm talking about the magnetic fasteners for power heads and the magnetic algae scrapers. The ads say they're OK, but I have my doubts. Anyone have any long term experience with them in their tanks?

Most such magnets are protected from the water and shouldn't be a concern, IMO. A heavily corroding magnet might be a concern, but it may depend on what the magnet is made of. I leave my algae scraping magnet in the tank 24/7.
