I've had 2 diamond gobies in the past month.. Waters fine everything is good. They just jump straight through the egg crate at the top of my tank and kill themselves while i am sleeping at night. I wake up to find a dead goby on my floor. NOT COOL....

I'm not getting another diamond. i know its a win win because I've heard people that have had them and haven't tried to jump out for like 2 years straight. But i don't wanna risk it and kill another 1.
What do most people have besides the diamond..??
tell me some stories if you'd like!
i just want another 1 of these guys. Theres always food for them in my 10g.(diamond goby i had was small don't worry) w.e i get next ill make sure its small also. When it grows ill give it to my bro(55g)

I used to have a nice little clown goby, they will rest in your SPS if you have any. they are quite the little characters and theyre quite fat so they cant fit through egg crate if they do jump.

i figured if they were small(1' 1/2) it wouldn't have been a problem.
but i guess according to you and live aquaria's quick stats i'm rong.
sorry and thanks.
i'll think about getting something else in the future

I have a pair of neon gobies and love them, they even breed on a monthly basis. Plus they would be perfect for a 10g. I also have an open top tank, they have never jumped.

The same but different; the Diamonds are bigger sand sifting fish and Neon's are very small cleaner fish. Really different fish but the same family.

Your from florida right? Cut a piece of screen from your screen porch, little duct tape, no more flying gobies! LOL! I had a flying carpenter wrasse that I actually caught in mid air when I went to the tank to fast, a little of our florida screening fixed that right up! Good Luck!

I have a thick bed of anthelia at the top of the reef--my gobies love to hang out in that
I have 4 gobies--none have had the desire to carpet surf.

I have also found that having a very turbulent water surface and an area of high flow near the top keeps most fish out of that area.
When I feed I put it in front of a korilia that blows it down toward the bottom of the tank.
