I bought a 55 gallon tank (48x12x20) that used to be setup as a fresh water tank. I would like to clean it before I set it up for use as a saltwater tank. What should I use?

Only use water and a little elbow grease to get it clean. I did the same thing and used tap water and some cleaning brushes I got at the dollar store. If there is something really stubborn you cant get off try using a little bit of vinager. I would stay away from commercial cleaning products they contain chemicals you don't want in your tank.

I would use a vinegar & water mix....like 75% water 25% vinegar & rinse it good...Its better going from fresh water to salt water the salt to fresh

Ok, thanks for the quick reply. I have a couple of areas near the top of the tank that is lined with old algae that won't come off with just water & elbow grease. I will try the vinegar & water mixture.
