That is a glimpse into the future that I did not realize would show up on RC. I received the skimmer last year and all I can say is that it has amazed me...........

143, You are fine. This is the only model in the USA. They have been running for about 2 years as Deltec tests and uses equipment before releasing it to the public. It is a great skimmer and I will release details as soon as everything is refined and ready for the market.....

Cool! Thanks Marvin! I've been itching to post these pics. It was so AWESOME to see this baby in action. I still can't believe how large the air intakes are for those pumps. :)

What Eheim pumps support an air hose that big!
Is anyone thinking "venturi hose mod"?
That's alot of air being pulled in!

Those aren't eheims.
They look like large aquabee pumps.
I read on the ZEO forum a while back that Deltec was trying to switch their pumps over to all AB's. Not sure if its true, but its what I read.
Nice looking skimmer though.
I wonder where they got the body drain idea from?? ;)

Does this mean the new Deltecs will have Aquabee pump problems as stated in many RC posts,
or is it too expensive to keep manufacturing them with Eheims?

Nobody who has seen this skimmer knows what pumps it has???
that is the only question i would ask.
is there a bubble plate?

Here is the H&S A250-AB5000 skimmer. It uses an AB5000 pump. Looks Very similar to the pump Deltec is using.

Pumps are aquabee 5000's with custom volutes, but I have no clue as to the air draw numbers, so I'll let Marvin reveal those when he is ready :D The foam looks great, and from what I've seen in the collection cup, it really pulls out some nasty sludge.
Oh, and no on the bubble plate.

Agreed! And from what I hear each AB pump is equivalent to 3 eheims. Yes... 3 Eheims!!!

I did a search and found this interesting link on the Aquabee pumps and turns out those babies (5000's) put out 5000/lh air each.

I think that's 5000 lph of water w/out a pinwheel.
DiazE
04/04/2008, 11:29 AM
How much with the pinwheel?
Jim_S
04/04/2008, 11:34 AM
It will vary. The deltec volute appears larger, so I think that it may pull more air than the H&S, but in the H&S forum I think they posted the air draw numbers they are getting from the pump.
I'd say its getting anywhere from 2000-2500lph of air per pump after the pinwheel and volute has been added. I could be WAAAYY off though :)
These are going to be powerful skimmers!

Lunch,
AFAIK you can order them through fins. They're not as popular as the the A250-2.1260, but they are available.

Marvin, when you are done testing it, please send it to me for some more testings :D

I have not really had to test it..... It has kicked butt since I received it. Pushing 1500 plus gallons an hour through it don't you think it might be an overkill for your tank:D

Wow 1500 gallons/hour going through the skimmer. Marvin, would it be safe to say that this skimmer is for systems in excess of 2000 gallons in volume?
I guess the title of this thread should read "Sweetest skimmer NOT on the market" :D
I like it!:smokin:
