Calcium reactor canister question

Lets say I do not need calcium in my tank just yet.

CanI remove the rocks and put in phosban in it?

Does a phosban unit work in the same way or higher water flow?

just trying to save money.

The PhosBan unit needs fairly low flow, maybe 100 gph, depending on the size of the calcium reactor. I think that's a lot more than a calcium reactor's flow.
