I just got a small maxima clam last night and drip acclimated him. He was fairly extended for the few hours he was in there before the lights went out. This morning I say a small hermit messing with the foot of the clam. I then noticed it was completely detached. My lights have not come back on yet so I don't if he will open again. I have a current 34 gallon cube with a 150watt halide.

I threw the piece away and now that the lights are on and it is fully extended and looks good. I put him into the sand at the bottom for now. I dont think pictures of him will help but it was more than just the little strings that hold him on. Are they known for growing these back?

Clams do this, it sounds like it will be fine but can't tell for sure without a pic. After they attach and disattach from a few things they drop their byssal threads to make room for new one's.
