Hello everyone.

I can't determine if this is an Acropora or an Anacropora.

This coral lacks the distinctive axial corallites found only in acros, and its branches appear to be growing in a twisted fashion and are not as organized as those of acropra...

(Regarding the axial corallites: perhaps they have not yet developed... On the other hand, I've had this piece for four months, and all the other acros I purchased developed axial corallites in no time).

This evidence leads me to believe that it's maybe an Anacropora and not an Acropora.

But, to be honest, I don't know for certain the Genus of this coral (not to mention the species).

Any thoughts?

That is definitely an Acropora. The radials are tubular, appressed, something you won't see in Anacropora. Many of the more 'primitive' Acroporas have less defined axials, such as A. breuggemannii, A. variolosa, A. hemprichtii, etc. I see axials on yours, they are not strongly exert.

Thanks Jamie.

So it's an Acro after all. ...I wonder what species.
