My boss started a new 55 gallon salt water reef tank about a month ago. She went to a local dealer and got a fish( I told her not to go there becouse of ich.) Now all of her fish are sick with white ich and black ich. She has been doing frequent water changes and adding no ich to the tank. Nothing seems to work, they just keep getting worse. She has took the carbon out, she has a 75 gallon protien skimmer and is setting up a uv steralizer today. Can anyone help us get rid of this ich before it wipes out her hole tank. Thank-you:mad2:

The No-Ich won't work, and neither will the sterilizer. Water changes won't do anything except improve general water quality. The only proven methods of treating marine ich are hyposalinity, copper, and tank transfer. I'd set up a hospital tank for all the fish.

The black ich is a different issue, but treating that will require a hospital tank, too.

Bertoni is correct. You have three choices for white ich: copper, hyposalinity, or tank transfer. Personally I prefer hyposalinity, as I think it's more not as harsh on the fish. All the other medications are less reliable.

For black ich, the recommended treatment is formalin (a form of formaldyhyde). You can buy it at Petco or Petsmart.
