I just got a Hanna pH monitor. Do you need to calibrate it before measuring pH? I didn't get the storage solution. What can I use put in the cap to store it?

Yes. Be sure to use both pH 7 and 10 for the calibration.
You can store it in pH 7 buffer, or diluted reef tank water if you want.
I leave my pH probe in the sump 24/7, but I know that doesn't work well with the pen types.

Thanks. Do you have to have the temperature of the buffer solution at 77F when you calibrate to have it calibrate accurately?
It says on the packet accurate +/-.01 at 77F.

For our purposes, getting the buffer solution to room temperature is close enough. Critical lab work requires more care.

My room temperature is about 68F. Is that OK?
