Hi guys,

I went to setup my phosban reactor today and am having problems. How much phosphate remover are you supposed to use in them? My recommended amount for my tank is 2 grams per gallon. For my tank that is around 450 grams. I filled up the reactor and started to use it in the tank. The media does not seam to be moving as it is pretty full. Is it supposed to tumble? Do I need to use less? Also, the threaded insert keeps popping off the top during startup. The feed pump goes into the line that runs through the reactor correct?

Hmm, you might need to split that between 2 reactors. I think the most TLF reccomends per reactor is 300g. I'd think that hose keeps popping off because there's too much backpressure. That'd also be why your media isn't tumbling.

Yes, the feed line goes to the center hose connection; that is then connected to the tube that flows the water to the bottom of the reactor.

For my 65g I use the 125g and that fills the reactor about 1/3 to 1/2 the way. Make sure you have the ball valve open that comes with the unit as well. Sometime new media gets heavy and sits at the bottom and you need to kick the flow up just enough to losen it up.

You have just enough flow the top of the media "dances".

Oh, i just saw the 450g's in one reactor...that's way too much!
